The Quilt Walk play depicts the first settlement of Panguitch in 1863. The winters were brutal, food was scarce and the settlers were starving. A group of seven men, with a team of oxen and a wagon set out to get food from Parowan, 40 miles away. When they reached the top of the mountain every footstep was a struggle, because of the deep snow and the weakened state of the men. Kneeling on the quilts, in a prayer circle, the men received an answer…WALK ON THE QUILTS! They did not sink in the snow. The men completed their journey by laying the quilts over the deep snow, walking across them and retrieving them and repeating the progress over and over again when the snow impaired their process. The story came to be known as the Quilt Walk. The play serves as a reminder of the faith and determination of the early seven pioneers who went for food and those who stayed behind, not knowing if help would come. Thursday, Friday and Saturday night of the Quilt Walk Festival the story is told.

Dinner Menu: Dinner is a roast beef, baked potatoes, green salad, rolls, and apple crisp. Cost: $25 per person. Dinner is served at 7:00 PM and the play follows.
